Writings From Voices 2003 - Fairfield County - Janice Brown

I would like to say thanks to the 1199 Training and Upgrading Fund, who helped me to make this day a special day in my life. My determination and dedication allowed me to achieve my high school diploma. I am so proud of myself. It was so hard for me to go to school and work over 40 hours per week. There was a time when I thought about quitting, but I said "Janice, you're not a quitter" and I kept pressing on.

Like the song says, "if you work hard at it, you can be what you want to be.

I would like to say thanks to my teachers Bette and Felicia who helped me to work very hard to achieve my goal. Also a very special thanks to my kids, Sheina and Christopher. You were always there for me.

Janice Brown works at Long Ridge of Stamford
