Writings From Voices 2004 - Velma Melendez

I always wanted to go back to school for as long as I could remember and earn my high school diploma in hopes that I would achieve it and further my education. I felt I owed it to my parents and myself.

I enrolled in GED programs, but was never able to complete them. I would get discouraged and would give up. I decided to give it one last try and stick with it. I finally achieved it!

It is one of my happiest days. I want to thank the 1199 Training Fund and all of its instructors for giving me hope, encouragement , and some extra pushes on days when I really needed it the most.
