Proverbs 3 vs 5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

As a child growing up on the beautiful island of Jamaica, I would often dream of becoming a registered nurse. I got sidetracked along the way, so it was with great joy and trepidation, when I saw a poster at work encouraging workers of the 1199 union to get their high school diploma. I immediately called for information, and I started school in September 2007.

Thanks to the 1199 union, my dream will be partially fulfilled on June 12, 2008 when I will finally receive my high school diploma. This will be a wonderful and momentous occasion. Having my family and friends there will no doubt be splendid.

I am now looking forward to starting the pre-requisite courses at Capital Community College for the "RN" program.

Never let your age nor your circumstances stand in the way of you achieving your goals. Age is nothing but a number and our circumstances are there to make us stronger. Your setback is God's set up for your comeback.

To Laurie Tishler, the best teacher I've ever had, thank you for your diligence and patience, thanks also for snapping at me when I'm talking instead of doing my work! It made me realize that I'm not in grade school anymore. It's time to get serious.

A very special thanks to Steve Bender, Tanna Howard, and all the staff at the 1199 Training and Upgrading Fund, for being there for us.
