My name is Christine Martin and I am from Jamaica. I have always had a passion for nursing. I was never able to complete my studies because
I had to drop out of school in order to take care of my family which consists of five kids. After my kids were able to manage on their own,
I decided to pursue my dreams. In July, 2004, I went to Florida where I stayed with my daughter and went back to school to be a CNA. I got
my license and started to work right away. I left Florida and cam to Connecticut in 2005.
I worked at Whitney Manor Convalescent and Rehab for some time and then at Jewish Home for the Aged. I love my jobs and I love what I do.
Because of the current economic status, I see that it was necessary for me to get a high school diploma. Just in case I would lose my job,
I will stand a better chance in getting a job than someone without a high school diploma.
Thanks be to God I am blessed with this opportunity of becoming a high school graduate.
Thanks to the 1199 and the Connecticut Nursing Homes Training Fund.
Thanks to Bette for her patience and understanding. There is no stopping me now.
