You are a CNA, I Suppose
By Lorna Bramwell
They cast their eyes and turn up their nose, when they see a CNAs clothes
Brown with stains and soaked right through with water and juice.
They say “you are a CNA, I suppose.”
I say, “Yes, that’s my occupation, and of course it is of some value to the elderly of this nation.”
By God, and these two kind hands, you should recognize a CNA at least once.
We are up early in the morning when the weather is cold,
When snow and sleet spreads over the streets,
But we set our heart to meet the hard working day.
We bend our back bathing and feeding ‘til our hard days shift is over.
Then we go home again, weary and tired, whispering these good words,
“Praise God for these two kind hands. We CNAs will live and die for the elderly ones.”
